Hi Steave.
I'm a new member here. I really like your comment about how to speak English well. I have a problem with speaking part. I work as waitress in restrurant. I have to talk with a lot people, and I feel like I don't have confident when I talk with them. I'm a shy person . any suggestion to improve speaking English.
Thank you for a great website.
Jasmine

hi jasmine,

first of all steve's been pretty busy lately. he's been improving the existing homepage.
meanwhile the moderators are trying to help him out on behalf of him.

refering to your request:
since you are a waitress I would suggest that you go straight to the restaurant lessons. you will find these under travel.
there're not many different questions and answers you will come across in your occupation which makes it pretty easy for you.

those lessons are not downloadable yet. how about you record a few sentences on an ipot and you can study anytime you feel like.
after repeating and repeating you will know those sentences inside out. which will boost your confidence and you will feel a lot more confident going to work.

ones you've done with the restaurant lessons keep studying and be persistant. steve's studymethod really work.

if you got anymore questions, we will be here for you

have fun on your way to become a confident english speaker.

Dear Steve,

I really found this website very useful. I am taking benefits from the conversation part and want to actively participate in forum as well.

However, there must a writing part as well. There must be a place where we should post our short essays and then you or any other person, who is capable, can check the essays and can correct the mistakes.

This will help us to improve our writing skills as well and to take as maximum benefits from the website as we can.

Regards
Zia ur Rahman

Hi zurpk,

Thank you for your feedback and suggestion. It is definitely reasonable to request a writing section. However, I wanted to provide a website that focuses on speaking. If I include multiple sections, then the purpose and value of teaching students to speak becomes diluted with other sections.

In order to correct an essay, a person needs to be a native speaker with strong writing skills. Many people with these skills do not come often to provide free service of correcting essays. Also, with the limited amount of time in a day, I cannot correct every essay if students start uploading essays on this forum.

I know it is frustrating, but hopefully there will be other sites who can find a way to provide all levels of English teaching service to everyone for free. In my current position, I am doing my best to help students with one difficult aspect of English.

Good luck and thanks for using www.talkenglish.com.
